I wish you a Happy Year of the Snake!
Before updating my Substack (itās been a while), I read that the Year of the Snake is believed to bring wisdom, transformation, and strategic growth. Itās a time for patience, planning, and making thoughtful decisions for long-term success. And as I took this in, something clicked because, just last night, I actually made a tough career decision myself, not realizing it was the very same day the Year of the Snake began.
Was it just a coincidence, or was the universe talking to me? I donāt know.
Revisiting old snake designs.
Snakes have always fascinated me, although I donāt draw them very often. Twelve years ago, I created a pattern collection for a design challenge on the Spoonflower website. They still organize these challenges to this day. Back then, the theme was, of course, the Year of the Snake. I designed the main pattern along with a set of coordinating designs using warm-toned colors. I worked in Adobe Illustrator back then (so vectors). My old collection is still there
And now, twelve years later, the Year of the Snake has come around again and I decided to revisit my old design. At the moment, Iāve been learning new skills in Procreate, and as a fun way to practice, I figured: āWhy not borrow from my own work and give it a fresh new look?ā
So here goes:
Iām sharing my āold and newā Year of the Snake designs for 2025 first, and you can find the one from 2013 below.
There are both similarities and changes - can you spot them?
I hope to be updating my Substack a bit more often than Iāve done in the past.
At the moment, Iām trying out new platforms to share my work.
Wishing you a lovely and creative day!
With love,
Love your snakes! Iām enjoying Substack more than Instagram, it feels more real to me. Good to see you here.š
